With a fresh batch of Stripers headed up the river from the delta, we launched out of Knights Landing and headed North. The plan was to intercept the herd of fish traveling to their spawning grounds. We hit out spot and put out the trolling motor to spot lock and cast at the small boil of Stripers snacking on the salmon smolt. Within 5 minutes we had out first fish on. While the crew continued to cast, I dropped a few minnows out the back of the boat and on the first drop back, we had a big fish strike on the drop! Fishing continued to be steady through out the day. We ended up with limits if quality Striped Bass. Perfect for TACOS!

We went up river from Tisdale boat ramp in search for some Stripers. We jammed up above Grimes to a spot I like to sit on for traveling stripers looking for a morning snack (our minnows!). We couldn't get any keepers to stick as they were just flirting with our baits and not hitting aggressively. We decided to move and start drifting the minnows. There was a lot boat traffic and pressure. We went up river and started making out way down. We eventually found a stretch of the river that had a good pile of fish in it and we grinded that section until we got out limits of good quality eaters!

Rain in the forecast? We still went fishing! We went down river out of Knights Landing to a stretch where the Striped Bass travel through. One of favorite spots to sit on spot lock and fish minnows out the back of the boat. With the water on the rise, we found a seam behind a log, put out minnows and the rest is history! Fish after fish, we continued to catch some great quality striped back. We ended the day with limits around 11am. Got back to boat ramp to clean fish before the rain hit.

Rain in the forecast again! But... we still went fishing. What started out with 2 clients, my cousin's Dylan and Hunter, quickly turned in to 4 clients. A fellow Striper guide asked me to help assist with his large group. NO PROBLEM! We headed up river out of Knights Landing and went to another travel lane. The river was still on the rise and this day, there was a bunch of debry in the river. We had to stop the boat multiple times to clear out the jet to continue our way up river. We finally made it to our spot. Salmon smolt were getting munched and we sat on the outside of them. Dropped the first minnow back and BAM!!! 12lber on the line. While we were reeling that fish in, I dropped in another minnow and BAM!! another good fish, weighing in at 7lbs. Instantly, we had a double. This type of catching continued for the remainder of the day. We ended up with limits of QUALITY striped bass to 12lbs.

Rain.. again. But, we got to experience a beautiful morning with a clear sky and views of the moon. Then it started to get cloudy as the rain started to come in. We headed up river again to the same spot. River was still on the rise. Where I fished the day before, did not produce so we dropped down a little bit. The smolt were getting munched again, we sat on the outside of them. This time I brought casting gear to get after them. Once we put the trolling motor on spot lock, the fish were thick under us. As the clients put a hurting on 23-28" striped bass I was casting off the deck catching them on swim baits. We ended up with limits at 9:00am and called the trip to beat the rain. As soon as we started cleaning fish in the parking lot, it started raining. Id say we hit it right on the mark!!
